In keeping with the rich tradition of Indian School of Mines Alumni Association (ISMAA) Kolkata Chapter, an International Seminar & Exhibition entitled "Exploration of Oil, Gas, Coal, Minerals and Ground Water: Modern Techniques and Appliances" is being organized by ISM Alumni Association Kolkata in association with IIT(ISM) Dhanbad and Geological Survey of India from 7 to 9th February 2018 in Kolkata. For the first time anywhere, water - both of surface and below ground - is being aligned and integrated with the topics of oil, gas, coal and mineral exploration. Depletion of ground water is a serious cause of concern. It is estimated that beyond 2030 there would be very little underground water available in the World and we would create disaster for future generations if we fail to act now. Added to this, contamination of ground water by Natural Agencies is a Global Phenomenon. If both these issues are not combated now, it may turn out to be doomsday for mankind.
