The Mendeleev Conference is a traditional scientific event for the Institute of Chemistry, St. Petersburg State University and this year it is held for the 11th time. Being one of the largest events for scientists working in various fields of chemistry in Russia, Mendeleev provides undergraduate students, PhD-students, and young scientists under 35 an opportunity to present their research, discuss them with colleagues and listen to the reports of leading Russian and foreign chemists. Moreover, the conference program traditionally includes meetings with representatives of large chemical companies (potential employers for young chemists), an introduction to the work of the Research Park of St. Petersburg State University, as well as excursions to the historical city center of St. Petersburg. The first conferences were held for students and postgraduate students of the Institute of Chemistry, SPbSU, and they were aimed to present the results of scientific researches, that were obtained in the laboratories of the Institute. The fifth conference became the All-Russia event with the international participation. Since 2012 the conference has got the name Mendeleev. And since 2015 it has become an International scientific conference when the number of participants began to exceed 800 people. The conference participants include world leading scientists from Germany (Prof. G. Leuchs, Prof. D. Bahnemann), France (Prof. J.-L. Garden), England (Prof. R. G. Compton), USA (Prof. V. V. Fokin, Prof. V. Gevorgyan), and more than a dozen other countries, as well as members of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Prof. I. P. Beletskaya, Prof. O. G. Sinyashin, Prof. Yu.A. Zolotov, Prof. V.I. Minkin, Prof. V. V. Lunin). 2019 year is a special for our conference. Mendeleev 2019 is dedicated to The International Year of the Periodic Table, which has been proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly and UNESCO, and 150th anniversary of the Periodic Law discovery by Great Russian scientists D. I. Mendeleev, a professor at our university. The Mendeleev 2019 Conference will be held in September 9-13, as a satellite event during the XXI Mendeleev Congress on General and Applied Chemistry.
