  The GRC on Plasminogen Activation and Extracellular Proteolysis presents breakthrough findings on the biological functions of these proteases and discusses their translational importance in key scientific areas: aging, cardiovascular diseases and angiogenesis, neurological and neuropsychiatric diseases, cell death, inflammation, infection, tissue homeostasis and regeneration, tumor biology, and renal function. Technological advances in understanding the biology of extracellular proteolysis will also be discussed. The translational importance of the new discoveries presented in each session will be emphasized, and the identification of the basic research areas, that need to be developed in the future to meet specific clinical needs, will be introduced. Technological advances in genomics, proteomics, and imaging of extracellular proteolytic systems will be presented. Guided in engaging discussions led by senior investigators in the field, new and exciting research will be presented and younger/new to the field investigators will be welcome and integrated into the conference.
