  In recent years, magnetic refrigeration around room temperature has received renewed interest thanks to the development of materials with enhanced magnetocaloric effects and, in parallel, developments in thermal engineering techniques. The potential high efficiency and environmental compatibility of magnetic refrigeration make this method of cooling a future competitor to conventional gas compression technologies. Thermag, the International Conference on Magnetic Refrigeration at Room Temperature, founded in 2005, represents the state of the art in the field of new magnetocaloric materials and novel cooling techniques.
