This conference is organised to honour Prof. Dr. O. M. Belotserkovski, one of the founders of numerical modeling in continuum mechanics. He was the rector of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. He created one of the most authoritative schools in the world in the field of computational mechanics. His work in this field is related to the development of numerical methods and solving problems of nonlinear mechanics, aerodynamics of descent spacecraft, plasma physics, magnetic hydrodynamics, hydromechanics, mechanics of deformable solids, medicine. He was the first in solving one of the most important problems of aerodynamics of spacecraft descending in the dense layers of the atmosphere — the problem of the departed shock wave. The method of integral relations developed by him is one of the widely used methods for solving this problem. Under his directions, methods such as the method of large particles, the method of flows, splitting methods, the grid-characteristic method of particles were developed and put into practice. His research interests included numerical solution of problems of aerodynamics, plasma dynamics, magnetic hydrodynamics, turbulent gas flows, dynamics of rarefied gases (Boltzmann equation), laser fusion, dynamics of deformable solids, medicine, implementation of numerical methods on the architecture of high-performance multiprocessor computers (or supercomputers). The primary objective of the conference is to report the state-of-the art on smart computation paradigms in continuum mechanics and explore the use of Artificial Intelligence Paradigms such as neural nets, machine learning for improving the performance of the designed engineering systems. The topics will include the up-to-date smart computational methods which are used to solve different problems in continuum mechanics, physics, engineering, seismic prospecting, non-destructive testing, etc. The strengths of the conference are the opportunity to discuss the features of the development and application of novel smart methods, computational algorithms, Smart software systems, high-performance computer systems for solving complex engineering problems. The case studies pertaining to the real world applications in the above fields are included. The volume will present a collection of selected research papers in English Language from some of the world leaders in the field of smart system modeling and design of engineering systems. Working languages — Russian and English.
