  This is a traditional event, organized biennially since 1980 by the Institute of Electronics with the purpose of providing a meeting place for researchers in quantum electronics from all around the world. Leading scientists are invited to deliver lectures on "hot" topics in the fundamentals of laser physics and applications of lasers. The main topics are: • Laser − matter interactions • Laser spectroscopy and metrology • Laser remote sensing and ecology • Lasers in biology and medicine • Laser systems and nonlinear optics The International School on Quantum Electronics serves to stimulate the young researchers working in the field of laser physics to participate in the school sessions and to benefit from the possibilities to discuss their own results with internationally recognized scientists in the respective research areas.
