It is well known how fast thyroid surgery is evolving towards enhancing the patient’s safety and optimal outcomes. Endocrine surgeons trained in specific high-volume surgery units, and the regular use of new technologies have minimised complications related to haemorrhage and injury in the inferior laryngeal nerve. However, no other procedure has allowed to minimise trauma to parathyroid glands rather than developing an accurate surgical technique before the advent of fluorescence.
