  The intercalation compounds represent a very broad field of research concerning inorganic or hybrid organic-inorganic systems, either natural or synthetic. The control of the intercalation process necessitates an accurate knowledge of structure, reactivity and interfaces, at different scales. This concern pushes forward to the development of specific structural, physico-chemical or spectroscopic characterization techniques, as well as appropriate theoretical approaches. Moreover, intercalation systems are so various that they are the basis of many applications in environmental sciences, energy, drug delivery, biology, magnetism, optics or electronics. This Symposium covers the theme of the intercalation compounds in its broadest sense and gives a unique opportunity for all chemists, physicists and materials scientists to get together and share their ideas on this important field of science. The organizers welcome contributions providing new insights into all topics connected with the intercalation compounds.
