TRADITIONS OF FREE TRANSLATION AND "MEDEA" OF BRODSKY (A "disturbing influence" of rhyme) "Medea" of Brodsky is an example of the translation "from style to style": the role of original text and interlinear crib played Russian and English translations. The author's poetics became the common denominator to which Brodsky has reduced both Russian and English translation (and through them the text of the original), which is explained by the main task – to add to the intended for theatrical production text of Euripides a contemporary sound. Triple rhyme is sustainable method of organizing the verse, but the structure of tercet is not homogeneous: the basic word finds support in the text of Annensky, and lines with rhyme-"correlate" contain the semantic extension of the original text.
