In his work "On the Place of the Theory of Objects in the System of Sciences" (1907) Meinong writes: 'in light of acceptability of objects such as square circle the law of non-contradiction loses its boundless significance'. Does it follow that, according to Meinong, the law of noncontradiction does not in fact have the status of a law, that it allows for numerous exceptions, and that therefore it ought to be considered merely as a practically useful simple rule? I will argue that this does not follow, and to clarify my position I will go over some of the things that Meinong says.
