Electrical monitoring is usually performed by a method of electrical resistivity tomography using multielectrode arrays. There are many results in publications obtained both with specialized monitoring equipment and standard field equipment. The article presents results of studying the upper part of the geological section in Kaluga region with standard electric survey equipment. Time-lapse variations in true resistivity obtained from two-dimensional inversion as well as variations in apparent resistivity are presented. The authors conclude that changes in the apparent resistivity at long spans result from influence of disturbances on the measurement system. Using the formal approach to processing and interpretation of such electrical resistivity tomography data may adversely affect monitoring results.
