Due to the unique antiseptic properties and many other biotechnological advantages silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) are widely used in biomedical and general applications. However, the current knowledge about the impact of Ag-NPs on mammals’ organisms is very limited. To study biokinetics and biodistribution of Ag-NPs in mammals’ bodies, white male SHK mice were orally exposed to Ag-NPs. At the end of the feeding period the mice were sacrificed and their organs were extracted. Ag-NPs in the tissue composition were radiolabeled with the 110mAg isotope using neutron radiation, then their concentrations were measured with the gamma spectrometry technique. The levels of NPs elimination from the key organs were estimated. The rate of Ag excretion from the brain was extremely low, which indicated accumulation effect of silver NPs in the brain.
