The present work demonstrates a possibility of the synthesis of nanocomposite coatings ceramics + monocrystalline carbon (MCC) system using a gas-phase synthesis of ceramic and ion-plasma deposition of nanostructured carbon. A fundamentally new combined method of application of composite nanostructured coatings on metallic samples of hardened steel has been used. The technology of the combined method of application of composite coatings comprised two stages. At the first stage gas-phase deposition method of application of the ceramic coatings in the open atmosphere by heating the compressed gas (air), its feed into a supersonic nozzle and formation of the supersonic air flow in this nozzle, the feed of the powder material in this flow, the acceleration of this material in the nozzle with a supersonic air flow and its direction on the work surface (a "dynamic metallization") which resulted in the joint plastic deformation of the powder particles and the treated surfaces, thus ensuring excellent adhesion of the surface with the sprayed material.
