Carbon and Li4Ti5O12 anode materials are widely employed in Li-ion batteries (LIB). However, carbon materials demonstrate poor capacity retention and low stability on cycling at high rates, while “zero-strain” Li4Ti5O12 has a limited capacity value. Therefore, it becomes necessary to search for new anode materials that will improve functional properties (capacity, power density, cycle life) of existing LIB. The Mg2Mo3O8 complex oxide might be considered as an attractive anode material for LIB.
