Sodium-ion batteries are a promising class of devices for accumulation and storage of electrical energy. They may potentially achieve comparable energy characteristics to their lithium-ion counterparts while being superior in many respects and in particular the availability of the raw materials for their manufacture [1]. These factors are the reason of current high interest of researchers in such systems. One of the problems yet to be solved is the development of an efficient polymer electrolyte for sodium-ion batteries. Whereas solid and gel polymer electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries are already widely used in commercial devices, the research and development of similar materials for sodium-ion systems is just taking off [1]. In this work, we present the results of our studies of polyacrylonitrile-based gel-polymer electrolytes developed in our group that demonstrate good room-temperature sodium-ion conductivity greater than 1•10-3 Ом-1 см-1. Complete sodium-ion cells with gel-polymer electrolytes will be also demonstrated that are capable of withstanding several hundreds charge-discharge cycles without significant deterioration of the parameters of the electrolyte.
