The problem of radioactive waste utilization, in particular the safe disposal of 99Tc, is acute before the modern nuclear power industry, inasmuch as it is a long-lived radionuclide with an extremely high migration capacity of its pertechnetate ion and low sorption activity in relation to many materials. To solve this problem, various matrices were proposed for its immobilization; however, it became evident during the course of investigations that they were insufficient because of the high leaching degree of the pertechnetate ion. To increase the safety of the storage facility, it is necessary to use new materials to ensure effective and long-term immobilization of technetium as part of mineral matrices and geochemical barriers in the storage area. In this paper, materials such as lidite and black shale have been studied. The lead is an alpha quartz with a carbon admixture, it can be used as a refractory and chemically resistant material, a catalyst and a filter for wastewater treatment. lidite - Precambrian rock, occupying the composition and properties of the intermediate position between anthracites and graphite. The black lead consists of 20-60% of the shungite substance and is used as a finishing and refractory material. In the course of the experiments, it was found that the shale does not exhibit sorption capacity with respect to pertechnetate ion, while in the lead the sorption level reached 47%. The work was carried out with partial funding by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation (Project No. AAAA-A16-116110910010-3)
