Аннотация доклада:
We have investigated the transitions between smectic, nematic, and isotropic phases in the framework of a unified molecular-statistical approach, which is different from the ones considered previously. The new measure of translational ordering is introduced to take self-consistently into account the most probable location of the molecules with respect to each other.
