Redox-hydrogeochemistry zonation is obliviously controlled by the composition of deposits. However, in the same time process of the formation of the redox gradients in groundwater could be considered as a transport problem. In this study to improve understanding of these processes, we simulated system, which related to real Neckar-Ammer rivers system in South Germany. A two-dimensional 7000 m × 40 m model was constructed, including several different geological formations. Close deposit of quaternary bodies rich of organics and layers rich of sulfates leads to formation of redox gradients in groundwater. We focused on the studying of the behaviour of this system under transient boundary conditions and studying the importance of the mixing-controlled reactions in the zones contact areas in catchment scales.
