One of the most promising fields of tetrapyrrolic compounds application, such as porphyrins and phthalocyanines, is based on their outstanding photophysical and photochemical properties. High quantum yields of the triplet state combined with long lifetimes of it make them very effective generators of singlet oxygen (SO) species under the light irradiation, that is used for anticancer and antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (PDT and aPDT correspondingly).
