In the present work we report some results of the investigation of local magnetization distribution and local luminescence properties by means of Scanning Near-Field Optical Microscopy (SNOM) technique in various modes of operation. Both illumination and collection modes of magneto-optical SNOM have been used for local Faraday rotation imaging of the ferrimagnetic iron-garnet films. Several luminescent sub-micro- and nanostructures have been investigated by luminescent SNOM for the observation of the local luminescence distribution. Colored or pure glass nanospheres on the surface have been proposed as new test samples for SNOM operation.
