As you know, electronic equipment on board off the aircraft plays a significant role, especially in cases where the transport operation is not performed, but a special task is solved, for which the aircraft is actually created. Such tasks include the search and detection of the target (air, ground, surface, underwater, disguised, hidden or covered by interference), the use of weapons (controlled or unmanaged), intelligence, radio communication, information collection and exchange it with the ground and other aircraft, search for equipment and people in distress, etc. The capabilities of electronic systems, depending on their purpose and design are great, it is the detection of air, ground, underground, surface and underwater targets, through the clouds and in the fog, at night, object recognition, ensuring the collection and transmission of information on a global scale. These systems are widely used in Geology, cartography, meteorology, rescue operations, inspection of natural resources, etc. Modern electronic systems are complex and expensive devices, the cost of which in some cases exceeds the cost of the aircraft, and the volume and duration of their tests are comparable, and often exceed the volume and duration of the tests of the aircraft itself. Therefore, simultaneously with the development of aviation radio electronics, there is a need for special scientific units specializing in the development and creation of methodological, metrological and instrument support for testing onboard radio electronic systems. The report for the first time describes in detail about the research and testing of various aviation radio-electronic equipment in the units of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute, and later-in the Flight research Institute.
