In this work we report synthesis, structure and spectral properties of novel isomer p9mp-C70(CF3)12 identified by means of 19F and 19F–19F COSY NMR. The reduction potentials and features of electrochemical behavior of p9mp-C70(CF3)12 have been determined by means of cyclic voltammetry. In contrast with vast majority of trifluoromethylfullerenes, the first reduction of p9mp-C70(CF3)12 occurs as irreversible process at –1.06 V vs Fc0/+ which has been assigned to dimerization process yielding [(C70(CF3)12)-]2. The possible reasons of this behavior and influence of the CF3 group attachment moieties on stability of trifluoromethylfullerene anions are discussed.
