Imaging is vital in the diagnosis and management of patients suspected with renal and ureteric calculi or stones, and it is imperative to choose the appropriate investigation, which is accurate as well as safe for the patient. At the present, computed tomography (CT) is the gold standard in diagnosis for a patient because the high sensitivity. However, CT scan is associated with the radiation hazards and it is expensive. Ultrasonography (US) is devoid of any radiation hazard to the patient and at the same time, its usage is limited by decreased sensitivity and inaccuracy in measuring stone size. There are several treatments for the stone disease. One of these is the use of the ureteroscope to destroy stones directly inside a kidney. This medical device can be used like a waveguide. To improve the existing devices, we propose an approach based on the concept of an ultrasound endoscope to determine stone size and the distance to the stone during the surgery. This rod serve as a waveguide that carries an ultrasonic pulse from one end located near kidney stone to the other end.
