Organizing information sharing where data is being actively produced is one of the digital economy's main objectives. One of the challenges of cross-system data exchange with data originating from different sources is being able to identify similar objects. A promising tool which can be used to unlock this challenging form of identification is a codification system which allows you to compare in-coming data from different sources, aggregate various attributes of similar objects and deliver quality data to end users. Organizing information exchange using a data warehouse involves the following steps: the creation of a data model for the repository, the development of a codification system, and designing procedures for preparing and loading data into the repository. The work looks at the data codification stage, and describes the experiment of applying the codification sys-tem for information models of cross-system interaction and utilizing it for stor-age. Ontological modeling methods form the methodological basis for this re-search. Before data is loaded into the repository, the data preparation phase must be performed, the key element of which is codification. This paper describes an experiment where this model has been applied for different categories of objects – material, financial, and the description of information concerning the workforce. The work deals with the international experience of using codification systems across global communities: a system for identifying legal entities, the FIGI secu-rities identifier, as well as a codification system for identifying goods and report-ing throughout the life cycle of lengthy engineering projects.
