The results of the synthesis of metal (Cu, Ni)-containing carbon nanostructures modified with sp and d elements have been analyzed for different ratios of elements. When the modification is carried out with the use of p and d elements, a redox process takes place leading to the growth of the atomic magnetic moment of the metal inside a nanostructure. This is associated with d-electron unpairing followed by the shift of unpaired electrons to higher energy levels.A hypothesis is suggested for the mechanism of the interaction of the nanostructure metal atoms with modifiers at the interface.
