The main problems of establishing the model of mechanical properties for stability analysis of supporting constructions of infrastructure facilities for offshore oil field exploration are discussed in the paper. The geomechanical aspects of the problem are highlighted. Offshore oil reservoirs exploration is complicated by a number of both geomechanical and engineering factors. These factors include nonlinear rheology of soils surrounding supporting constructions of infrastructure facilities and complexities related to estimation of these soils' rheological properties using engineering methods. As a result, stability analysis may provide unreliable results leading to adverse consequences. In the paper the mentioned problems are discussed in detail. Some engineering and theoretical solutions for enhancing the reliability of mechanical model needed for stability analysis are provided in the paper as well.
