Higher education institutions of Russia, technological universities among them, demonstrate their inclination towards internationalization. Kuban State Technological University, located in the Russian city of Krasnodar, is no exception. While international students are welcomed by the university, Russian has traditionally been the only language of instruction for all the subjects in the university curriculum except foreign language studies. As this practice seriously limits the internationalization opportunities for such an institution of higher education, the university language policy has been modified in order to increase the opportunities for teaching a wider range of courses not only in Russian but also in English. In this connection, the Language Centre of Kuban State Technological University was established in March 2019. The first task set for the language centre was to develop the training course aimed at preparing non-EFL teachers of the university to work in the international environment using English. The presentation will describe the work on preparing and running this course, as well as some other aspects of the role played by the language centre at a Russian technological university working on its internationalization.
