Psoriasis is a chronic multifactorial disease characterized by skin lesions of various severity level and have a genetic basis. Clinical and literature data illustrate the link between psoriasis and mental disorders. The disease significantly reduces the quality of life and requires scrutiny of the genetic mechanisms of its occurrence. Previously in our research group the association of SNP rs6502892 (C>T) in the MIR22 gene with panic disorders had shown. Gene is located on the short arm of chromosome 17 and encodes a microRNA that regulates expression of more than 30 protein-coding genes at post-transcriptional level. The study involved two groups: patients with a diagnosis of psoriasis (69) and healthy individuals (control group, 163 people). DNA was extracted from whole blood. Analysis of the allelic status of the SNP rs6502892 was performed using PCR-RFLP (with restriction enzyme FauI). To analyze the association used the Chi-square test. The distribution of genotype frequencies for the control group corresponds to the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium and for patients with psoriasis does not match (p=0,00003, Chi-square =17,64). As a result of the statistical analysis for the investigated SNP has been found the association with psoriasis (p<0,004, Chi-square=11.09). Also statistical analysis has revealed a recessive model of inheritance of the associated T allele (p=0.02, Chi-square=5,25). Thus, the results indicate involvement of the gene product of MIR22 in the development of psoriasis. The degree of involvement in MIR22 requires further study on its transcription in the blood and in the affected skin of patients. Also future research should be focused on the search of the possible connection of MIR22 with mental characteristics of patients with psoriasis. Since its targets are involved in the development and functioning of the nervous system and associated with panic disorder.
