The fundamental constants of the formation of the Russian economy in the Soviet period are natural resources and the active participation of the state in regional development. Industries that gained competitive advantages in the course of radical economic reforms after the collapse of the planned economy of the USSR turned out to be in better economic conditions than other industries and sectors. At the present stage of globalization development, the analysis of factors determining the location of industries in the territorial space of Russia is relevant. The study highlights nine manufacturing industries: food and tobacco; textile and clothing production; woodworking; pulp and paper production; chemical production; production of non-metallic mineral products; metallurgical production; production of vehicles and equipment; electrical equipment manufacturing. The dependent variable is the logarithm of the volume of products shipped per capita of the studied industries. Based on the analysis of the existing literature, taking into account the availability of data, the author identified the following as the main factors determining the location of industries in the territorial space of Russia: 1) employment density; 2) economic crime; 3) the length of paved roads in the region; 4) the level of urbanization in the region; 5) distance to a large city / market; 6) innovation activities of enterprises; 7) investment activity in the region; 8) social infrastructure; 9) environmental situation. The calculations were carried out using the combined least squares method using panel data from the regions of Russia in the period 2006–2016. The following samples were determined for analysis: 1) regions of Central Russia (Central Federal District, North-Western Federal District, Southern Federal District, North Caucasian Federal District, Volga Federal District); 2) regions of Eastern Russia (Urals Federal District, Siberian Federal District, Far Eastern Federal District); 3) all regions of Russia. Based on the simulation results, a number of recommendations were formulated for selecting the location of industries in the territorial space of Russia.
