The Arctic regions are now mainly dependent on food import. The problem of their food security is related to many social, economic and environmental issues such as low population density, traditional lifestyle of indigenous population, limited transport infrastructure, high cost of food, harsh climate and influence of climate change. The COVID-19 pandemic has become an additional factor of vulnerability that can potentially cause serious food supply disruption. It also showed us a need to rethink our attitude to the local food production in the Arctic and to reinforce the Arctic food systems. These issues were widely discussed on the recent Arctic Resilience Forum and virtual conference “COVID-19 Impacts in the Arctic”. Publications about the impact of the pandemic on the arctic food security also began to appear in recent months. They cover such themes as indigenous food security (particularly in the North of Canada), innovative food projects in the High North and future of arctic food production. Scientific and news review on the theme will help to highlight the actual effects of COVID-19 pandemic on the arctic food security and elaborate a strategy to overcome potential challenges.
