Intergalactic sites of star formation in the vicinity of interacting galaxies. A short review of the properties of intergalactic regions of star formation observed close to the main bodies of interacting galaxies will be given, including the new long-slit observations of some tidal dwarf candidates at 6m telescope. I will mostly focus on two open questions: physical conditions which may trigger star formation and the stability (survivability) of intergalactic stellar <<islands>>.
