This paper focuses on English as an international language. The object of the research is the phonetic features of global English in the European Union, especially in Germany. The fact that the role of English across the world has increased significantly since at least the mid-twentieth century underlies the position of the publications of many modern linguists, which proves the relevance of the topic. More precisely, this study is aimed at revealing major patterns and tendencies of the German variety of English and integrating the research findings into the frame of teaching English as an international language.
