In this paper, I develop an analysis of case assignment in Tsakhur (Lezgic/Nakh-Dagestanian) couched in the feature-based theory of case. Specifically, I adopt the idea of Pesetsky 2013 and argue that Tsakhur case morphemes reflect syntactic categories of the heads the nominal merges with. This analysis allows us to represent effectively two peculiar features of Tsakhur case system: the pervasive use of the attributive morpheme on the NP-internal constituents and the three-way grammatical distinction inside the category of case (nominative vs. ergative, affective, possessive vs. other cases).
