An experiment to measure radiation doses behind thin shielding was carried out on board the ISS. The experiment was conducted on the European Space Agency's EXPOSE-R2 platform of the Zvezda module using the R3DR2 instrument. The results of this experiment, which are freely available, were used to analyse radiation variations in the Earth's outer radiation belt. The Lomonosov satellite, launched by the Lomonosov Moscow State University Research Institute of Nuclear Physics, carried the DEPRON instrument, which included a semiconductor detector similar in design to the detector in the R3DR2 instrument. The analysis showed the presence of significant increases in dose rate. These increases resulted in a 5-fold or more increase in the contribution to the daily average dose rate. The dose rate of such increases was 28.8 mGy/h according to R3DR2 and 106.5 mGy/h according to DEPRON, however, the total dose rate of individual increases did not exceed 0.8 mGy according to R3DR2 and 1.6 mGy according to DEPRON. Comparison with data of the geomagnetic situation showed that such increases are observed mainly in the periods of geomagnetic perturbation. The information obtained can be useful in assessing the level of radiative forcing in the near-Earth region near the Earth's outer radiation belt.
