The study is devoted to the study of the process of assessing the degree of anisotropy of a thin-layered formation, which makes it possible to determine the possibility of neglecting anisotropy (the possibility of conventionally considering the formation isotropic). A set of petroelastic models of carbonate layers was built, representing a mineral matrix (isotropic polycrystalline calcite) and voids of various shapes filled with different fluids (gas (methane), oil, water, heavy oil). Then they were alternately uniformly mixed with layers of a carbonate matrix without voids (the concentration of layers varied from 0 to 100%). The boundary values of the layer concentrations were identified, outside of which the formation anisotropy can be neglected. As a result, a parameter was identified that characterizes the degree of heterogeneity of the layers in the formation and makes it possible to make a decision on the significance of the degree of anisotropy of the elastic properties of the formation.
