In this paper we are trying to recognize oriented fracturing by analyzing elastic properties. This is important for all scales including core, well logging and seismic scales. We consider fractures filled with various fluids (brain, oil, gas and their mixture) and we look how the elastic properties in a fractured medium differ from a medium without cracks. We use three main methods for fractured rocks of the effective medium theory - Hudson’s, Eshelby-Cheng’s, and self-consistent. We compare the results, obtained with help of these methods, and discuss applicability of each method for calculating the effective properties of fractured rocks is discussed. We show a possibility to recognize oriented fractures and estimate their orientation using cross-plots of seismic attributes.
