Proposed paper introduces the first reflection on the results of exploratory study initiated after an outage paralyzed several social networks and messengers on October 4, 2021 This incident detected clearly acute problems of being digital in modern world and provided the scholars with the material to reveal the discussion about opportunities and threats social media give to certain professional groups, namely – to journalists.
