Famous experiments with inverted vision (Stratton, 1896) are based on the contrasting of sensory substance (sensory "fabric" according to A.N. Leontev, 1975) and meaning of visual percept. We created a "double overturn" method which allows us to investigate the process of percept formation in case of conflict between sensory "fabric" and the meaning of visual scene when observer was presented really overturned scene through the invertoscope (Arbekova, Gusev, 2012). Each of 50 respondents looked through the invertoscope at a toy room. But it was really overturned and all interior things inside were glued. To "break" the confidence of observers that the scene is normal the experimenter poured the sugar from the teapot to ceiling of overturned room. Results show that observers guessed that the room was overturned in case of obvious conflict between the sensory "fabric" and the meaning. The observers saw illusions of water or steam instead of sugar. Change of personal sense of sugar was used with an additional problem solving task (modified Lachin's task) which allowed to connect the sugar with sense of success or failure. We found a statistically significant difference in appearance of illusions in the different groups. In the "success" group illusion was registered in 1 person of 16, in the "failure" group - 7 of 18, in the control group - 13 of 16. This method opens a perspective in the investigation of personality factors role in the process of visual percept formation. This work was supported in part by M.V.
