We consider recent bottom earthquakes, those for which USGS, Caltech or UCSB provides finite fault model data. Using these data and the Okada formulae, we calculate vector fields of co-seismic bottom deformations which allow us to determine the following parameters of tsunami sources: double amplitude of bottom deformation, displaced water volume and potential energy of initial elevation. First, we examine the relative contribution of horizontal and vertical components of bottom deformation into the displaced water volume and energy. Then, we study the displaced water volume and the energy as a function of earthquake moment-magnitude. Ultimately, we obtain and discuss dependencies that relate the Soloviev–Imamura tsunami intensity with the parameters of tsunami sources.
