High level of turbulence constantly observed in the magnetosheath of the magnetosphere of the Earth and geomagnetic tail leads to reanalysis of many approaches to the description of magnetospheric dynamics. Such description can be based on the analysis of the support and violation of pressure balance. The possibility of such approach is connected with the experimentally demonstrated pressure balance at the magnetopause and across the plasma sheet in spite of the observed high level of fluctuations of plasma parameters and magnetic field. We summarize results of the study of the distribution of plasma pressure and pressure gradients at geocentric distances <15Re using data of THEMIS mission. We calculate the value of plasma parameter in the region from 6 to 12RE near midnight and from 6 RE to magnetopause near noon and evaluate transverse currents in this region. It is shown that transverse currents which was considered as central plasma sheet currents can be closed inside the magnetosphere and represent the part of high latitude continuation of ordinary ring current. The selection of high latitude continuation of the ring current gives the possibility to reanalyze the problem of the nature of auroral oval and its mapping to the equatorial plane. It is shown that most part of the auroral oval is mapped to the surrounding the Earth plasma ring in contrast to the ordinary suggestion about location of roots of auroral arcs in the plasma sheet. The nature of different types of auroral arcs and the problem of acceleration of "electrons-killers" are discussed.
