Nitrogen oxides (NOx=NO, NO2) are considered as one of the most dangerouspollutants produced bydiesel vehicles. The selective catalytic reduction with ammonia (NH3-SCR) is a widely usedmethod for NOxemission control. However, an insufficient catalytic activity of the commercial NH3-SCR catalysts (V2O5-WO3/TiO2and metal-exchanged zeolites) at temperatures below 250°Cremains a serious issue [1].Apromising way to improve the low-temperature efficiency of NOxremoval isto pre-oxidize 50% NO to NO2in order to realize Fast SCRpathway [2]. For NO pre-oxidation different methods have been proposed such as catalytic andphotocatalytic oxidation,oxidationby non-thermal plasma,and electron beam irradiation [3].In this study we suggestedto oxidize NO by usingdirect O3injection into exhaust gas flow upstream to NH3-SCR catalyst to assist low-temperature NOxremoval.
