The paper analyzes Russian official and expert discourse of transformations in Turkey’s foreign policy in the 2010s. In doing so, it compares perceptions of different segments of Russian political establishment, academic and business communities of Ankara’s assertive foreign policy and changing relations with the West, Russia and China. The paper seeks to answer the following questions. How successful is Turkey in its balancing between East and West? To what extent can Ankara’s foreign policy vis-à-vis the USA, the EU, Eurasia and China run counter or correlate with Russia’s interests? What are the implications of Turkey’s more assertive foreign policy for Russia?
