Statistical analysis of the influence of the composition, parameters of smelting technology and processing of steel on the occurrence of a "sliver" defect in cold-rolled products was performed for 01YuT steel of the current manufacturing. Data from more than 200 melts were used as the basis for the analysis carried out. The samples of metal taken at various stages of processing liquid 01YuT steel of four melts, as well as from continuously cast billets, hot-rolled and cold-rolled products, were studied. The results obtained made it possible to establish the patterns of formation and evolution of non-metallic inclusions, and to propose effective methods for preventing the rejection of cold-rolled steel caused by steelmaking defects.
