Twenty-five years ago, a first atomistic model of the nucleosome structure was proposed [1]. Since then, more models have been created as Cryo-Microscopy has become increasingly popular. At present, there are over four hundred structures containing nucleosomes in the Protein Data Bank. Many of these structures are very similar, others differ in composition and conformation. We studied the diversity of nucleosome structures, analyzed available data and models quality. We checked the variety in histone and DNA content of nucleosomes and assessed the spectrum of their interactors. Also, we discovered trends in experimental resolution together with molecular model quality. Furthermore, we have identified areas of the nucleosomal interactome that are well known, and others that remain underresearched [2].
