Abstract. Crystal structure parameters, microstructure, dielectric, and local piezoelectric properties of ceramics (Na0.5-xBaxBi0.5)TiO3 (x<0.1) modified by CuO additive have been studied. In pseudocubic perovskite samples the unit cell volume increased with increasing amount of Ba2+ cations. The phase transitions marked by peaks of dielectric permittivity near Tm ~ 600 K shifted to 400 K with x increasing up to x=0.04. An increase of effective piezoelectric coefficient d33 was observed for the sample with x=0.08 correlating with increase in the dielectric permittivity value at the room temperature, indicating to a positive effect of Ba2+-cations modification on functional properties of NBT ceramics.
