An analysis of ergativity in different regions of Eurasia has been provided. It has been demonstrated that while in Himalayan proper languages (e.g.,in Tibetan, Ladakhi, etc)the late phase of whole-system ergativity is present, the Indo-Aryan languages of the Indian planes demonstrate either whole-system ergativity of Tibetan type (in Assamese, Classical Dakkhini, to some extent in Nepali) or split ergativity determined by the perfective character of the transitive participial component of the predicate (as in Hindi, Punjabi, etc). Iranian languages have split ergativity determined by the Past tense of the predicate, in this they show similarity with some Caucasian languages. The rest of the Caucasian languages demonstrate whole-system ergativity similar to one found in the Basque language of Spain.
