A summary of the main directions of development of the "quantum sensing" sub-technology is given: clocks and gravimeters, electric and magnetic field sensors, and quantum metrology. The main focus is on the physical principles of building a new generation of sensors, such as (quantum) superposition, entanglement and quantum measurements. The situation of the industry in the world and in the Russian Federation is also discussed, taking into account the requirements for highly sensitive sensors.
