Potassium nitrate is a widely-used fertilizer which can be produced from various raw materials. At certain stages of potassium nitrate production information about solid-liquid phase equilibria in the system containing water, nitrates and bicarbonates of sodium and potassium may be very useful. Depending on temperature and the partial pressure of carbon dioxide bicarbonate anions turn into carbonates. Therefore this problem should be considered as investigation of vapor-liquid-solid equilibrium in the Na+-K+-HCO3--CO32--NO3--H2O-CO2 system. In the present work we conducted both experimental measurements and thermodynamic modeling of the system under study.
