Based on archive photographic photometry and recent CCD photometric data for red novae systems V4332 Sgr and V838 Mon, we established their stellar content, exploded components, and nature of explosions. Low temperatures in the outburst maximum are due to quasi-adiabatic expansion of massive envelopes after the central energy release preceding the outburst.
