Topological insulators (TIs) are extremely promising materials for terahertz photonics. The properties of massless electrons in surface states, due to their topological protection from backscattering, lead to high mobility. High nonlinear properties make TIs one of the best nonlinear materials for the generation of higher terahertz harmonics. This work examined TI samples with a chalcogen-ordered tetradymite structure with different types of conductivity. The obtained results offer promising opportunities for improving the efficiency of nonlinear conversion of terahertz radiation, as well as for various broadband optoelectronic, spintronic applications for information transfer and communication.
